Who we are

GableRoof.co.uk is a UK based website that connects homeowners with local, vetted roofing specialists, publishes independent roofing guides, and works with roofing businesses on directory listings and advertising. This policy explains what data we collect, and how we use it.

We are the data controller for the personal data described below, in line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Data we collect

When you request a quote

• Full name, phone number, and postcode
• Project type, such as new roof, replacement, repair, or inspection
• Technical data such as your IP address and browser type, collected automatically

When you contact us directly

• Name and email address
• The content of your message, and the reason you selected on the contact page

When a roofer applies for a listing

• Business name, trading address, and coverage area
• Insurance and trade certification details, such as NFRC membership
• Billing contact, for paid featured listings on our list your business page

How we use your data

We use quote request data for one main purpose. We match you with relevant, vetted roofers in your area so they can contact you with a quote. We do not use this data to make automated decisions that affect you legally, and we do not sell your data to data brokers.

Contact form messages are used only to reply to your enquiry, and are not added to any marketing list without your separate consent.

Sharing your data with roofers

This is how our free matching service works. When you submit a quote request, we share your name, phone number, postcode and project type with up to three roofers from our checked network who cover your area and do the type of work you need.

Roofers we share data with have agreed to our data handling terms as a condition of joining our directory, including using your details only to respond to your enquiry. We are paid by roofers for each match made. This is disclosed here and does not cost homeowners anything.

We do not share contact form enquiries, or any data beyond what is needed to provide you a quote, with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

Directory and business listings

Roofers may apply for a free basic directory listing or a paid featured listing, as explained on our advertise page. Paid status affects where a listing appears only. It does not affect which roofer your quote request goes to, and does not affect the accuracy of any information we publish about a business.

Business contact details submitted for a listing are used to publish the listing and to invoice featured listing fees, and are kept for as long as the listing stays active.

Advertising and sponsored content

Some content on this site, such as featured roofer spotlights or sponsored guides, is paid for by a business. In line with UK CAP Code advertising rules, all sponsored content is clearly labelled “Sponsored” at the point it appears, so readers can tell it apart from independent editorial content.

Being a sponsor does not change the facts in our cost guides, comparisons, or maintenance advice.

Cookies and analytics

We use a small number of cookies to run this site.

• Essential cookies. Required for the site and quote form to work correctly.
• Analytics cookies. Help us understand which guides and pages are useful, using combined, anonymous data.
• Advertising cookies. Where display advertising appears, our ad partners may use these to measure performance.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. Blocking non essential cookies will not stop you from requesting a quote.

Links to other sites

Our guides and directory listings sometimes link out to roofers’ own websites, manufacturer sites, or independent bodies such as the Information Commissioner’s Office. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of external sites, and we recommend reading their own policies before sharing any information with them.

How long we keep your data

Quote request data is kept for up to 12 months, to handle any follow up questions or disputes, then deleted. Directory listing data is kept for as long as the listing is active, plus a reasonable time for billing records. Contact form messages are kept for up to 24 months.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you can ask us to:

• Confirm what personal data we hold about you, and give you a copy of it
• Correct data that is wrong
• Delete your data, where there is no legal reason for us to keep it
• Restrict or object to certain uses of your data
